The Light Committee | Photographer Background
A Photography Studio
Hello. I’m Rafael, a professional portrait photographer. My goal is to provide you with a premiere end-to-end experience resulting in standout images to meet your photography goals. With every shoot I do, I strive to maintain the 5-star reviews I’ve garnered on Google and Yelp.
How it Started
I was fortunate to turn a decades-long love for photography into a professional photography service. It started with my PR and marketing consultant work for large and start-up companies. It started when one of my PR/marketing clients years ago gave me the chance to do their headshots. Then, another client, and so on – the rest is history, as is said. During this time, I had also done portrait photography for close friends.
My other business experience includes previously holding account executive and client management roles at two of the top 10 largest worldwide PR agencies, Ketchum and MSL. This includes having managed teams and client budgets in excess of $30,000+ monthly. I earned a BA in Journalism, California State University, Northridge, and graduated with honors. I also served honorably in the US Air Force and California Air National Guard. Please get in touch with me about how I can meet your photography needs.

The Light Committee studio has several backgrounds, props, and more. So, we can do, and have done, many types of portrait sessions. Being in the DTLA arts district also provides varied city backdrop options. I use photography equipment that are regarded as among the best in the industry for commercial-grade photography. This includes high-end commercial-grade Nikon DSLR camera bodies. It also includes the use of many premium prime and zoom lenses.
Premium lighting is also used with commercial-grade industry-leading Profoto strobe lights and soft boxes. Other lighting tools are used as needed, like Profoto speedlights, reflectors, and more. For touch-ups, again, only the best software and equipment is used to process photos. All this combines to give you a premium photo shoot experience and results hard to find almost anywhere else.
